Dr. McLarney is amazing. I did not have surgery, but she is incredibly smart and has a great manner. So much nicer than other docs I've been to, and I have heard wonderful things about her surgical expertise as well.
When I went in for an unidentified hand injury, she brought me into the office, pulled my x-rays up on the computer screen, and pointed out all the things she saw on it, speaking in clear and plain English. She concluded that I had dislocated my middle finger and that it had popped back in soon after. When she massage my hand to see where it was swollen, what she felt there confirmed her suspicions. But she was careful several times to say that even though she was probably right she was really just making an educated speculation. Then I did several weeks of occupational therapy downstairs (they are wonderful down there too) and came back for a checkup. She had me do all my exercises and looked it over and was genuinely excited to tell me that I didn't need surgery. The woman glows with good will.
Try to get your doctor to refer you to her. I cannot say enough nice things about her. Her practice is in the BMH building.

I shattered my ankle and fibula four years ago. Watch out for icy spots!
Dr McLarney happened to be available to perform the emergency surgery that I needed. She oversaw my recovery and also performed the followup surgery three months later. I felt very comfortable with her and her staff.
Around the same time she traveled to Sumatra to help victims of the 2004 tsunami, so she's got her heart in the right place too.
Next time I break something I'll be sure to seek out Dr McLarney again :-)
