It's about 3:35 PM on Monday the 12th. I live off Western Ave. For the past half hour I think I've heard at least a dozen sirens of emergency vehicles. They seem to be headed to Exit 3, but I can't quite tell. Anyone have a scanner who knows what's up?

I don't know, but thanks for the reminder to program the newly donated
scanner. (It's now on my to-do list for this week.) It would be perfect
for this sort of question.
I have the instructions and the frequencies, so it shouldn't be that hard,
right? : )

Yeah... I was wondering the same thing. I'm at work at the Marlboro Tech
Center and it sounds like trucks from Vernon and Hinsdale have gone by,
along with the Brattleboro trucks. Also, Rescue. Anyone out there know if
there's another big fire?

At the Wilder Building, we had a lot of false alarms. One day, one of the firefighters told me always to leave the building. And one day, I followed his advice, and it did save my life.
My guess is that Brooks House has a sprinkler system. Which probably saved the building. This is just a guess. In my opinion, every apartment building in this town should be required to have a sprinkler system.
After the Wilder Fire, one of the firefighters said, "if this place had had a sprinkler system, it would have just been a mattress fire, with some smoke and water damage." We all know what it turned out to be instead.
I know from experience that the Brattleboro Fire Department is the best.

I've been here 2+ years and the system smoke alarms never went off before. I've set my apt. alarm off several times and a couple neighbors have, but I never was in such a close call. And I'm surprised at my first reaction. And learned a lesson.

Maybe there were two fires, because there were tons of trucks out here in West B. this afternoon as well. I saw a couple pull into Garfield Drive. Any info on this?

There's also a fire in Guilford...3 alarm...on Carpenter Hill Rd. Fire trucks
were being sent out Hinesburg Rd in West Brattleboro as the other end of
Carpenter Hill was blocked.
