Sports on iBratt? Perish the thought.
However, the Reformer doesn't cover UVM sports unless they're in the national news and same for the Rutland Herald, mostly.
Last year I signed up for UVM sports email updates so now I'm able to follow everything as closely as I want. For you puckheads out there, UVM men's hockey is having a great season. More below from the UVM SID:
BURLINGTON, Vt. - The University of Vermont men's hockey team moved up to seventh in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Poll released today. The No. 7 ranking is the highest for the Catamounts since Jan. 23, 2006 when Vermont was also ranked seventh in the USA Today Poll. The Catamounts were ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation during the 2005-06 season.
Vermont also moved up four spots to eighth in the latest USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Poll. The Catamounts are sixth in the latest Inside College Hockey Power Rankings.
Vermont also ranks third in the latest PairWise Ratings. The PairWise is used by the NCAA to select and seed teams for the NCAA Tournament. According to the KRACH Ratings (Ken's Ratings For American College Hockey) and the USCHO.com RPI the Catamounts have played the No. 1 strength of schedule in the country. Vermont is 5-3-2 against ranked opponents this season.
No. 7 Vermont (12-4-3, 7-3-2 HEA) visits No. 3 Northeastern (14-4-2, 10-2-1 HEA) on Friday and Saturday at Matthews Arena at 7 p.m. The Huskies won this season's first meeting 5-3 at Gutterson Fieldhouse on Nov. 14.*
HEA = Hockey East Assoc. - it's the hockey equivalent of the Big East in college basketball.

Good to see there's another UVM men's hockey fan in B'boro. Can't say I got to all the games in any year - even the year I covered them for the UVM Cynic.
My crowning moment as a reporter? BU at Gutterson: forward Dave Silk got penalized for the an illegal stick. I tracked him down on his way to the locker room to confirm that, yes, the refs confiscated his stick because it had a curve greater than the allowable amount (I think he added a few unprintable words as well).
2 years later Sillk was part of the Miracle on Ice team at Lake Placid. I believe Dave Craig and Mike Eruzione were part of that BU team that I saw that day in '78 as well.
