An 'extreme sports' benefit film is being brought to the Latchis Theater again this year. It is this Saturday, at 4 & 7 PM, to benefit children from schools in the Windham Southeast Supervisory Union where funding for winter sports have been cut. Tickets are $10, or $12 at the door.

Just a clarification, in the case of the Brattleboro Town schools, funding for winter sports programs comes from the volunteer fund raising efforts of a school’s parent group, not from the general education budget.
That said, this event is a great way to support the community’s efforts to offer it students a chance to experience all sorts of winter sports!

Yes, how true: "Children of Winter (Never Grow Old)."
Enjoying winter in Vermont by participating in the elements is crucial to healthy aging and quality of life.
Sports saves many childrens live. And in Vermont, in particular, chidren's access to winter sports is critical in helping to save lives, improving quality of adult life, and the prospect of that healthy adult contributing to his/her community completes the circle of birth, growth, maturity.
In my book, participating in winter sports is a necessity, much like good food, clean air/water, shelter, education.
TV is not a necessity or even a utility. There's a reason we always called it the "boob tube." Who cares about the "importance" of the digital switchover. Just kill your TV before it kills you or your children.

I think that Winter Sports are important and I know my daughter appreciates being able to take Yoga at school during the winter. Not all the winter sports programs are outdoors ones.
