Brattleboro Listers Update Of Town-Wide Reappaisal
    Monday, March 09 2009 @ 10:45 AM GMT+4
    Contributed by: Anonymous

Home & GardenThe town-wide property reappraisal has been in progress since the beginning of the year. The Board of Listers would like to thank the property owners for the cooperation we have received. The results of this reappraisal are expected to be implemented in the April 2010 Grand List.

To organize the inspection process, the town has been divided into neighborhoods. As our data collectors commence working in a neighborhood, letters are sent out notifying the property owners that we will be in their area taking pictures and exterior measurements of the buildings, and requesting that the property owners call in to schedule interior inspections of their homes. In 2008 the property inspections have been primarily occurring in the rural areas of the town. In 2009, the data collectors will be working in the more densely developed neighborhoods.

In addition to maintaining compliance with State standards for our Grand List, the goal of the reappraisal is to ensure a fair and equitable sharing of the property tax burden. The last reappraisal was made effective in April 2005. Members of the public may direct any questions about the reappraisal project to the Brattleboro Listers’ Office at 802-251-8156.
