    Spring Haiku
    Saturday, March 21 2009 @ 06:03 PM GMT+4
    Contributed by: annikee

    CreativeToday is just like
    A child's laughter when tickled
    Soft sunny spring day.

    back door pile of snow
still hanging in there but I
    keep kicking it loose

    melting melty melt
    trickles of cold escaping
    water down driveway

    A cat just blew by
    And there goes another one
    This wind really blows
Okay, so it's not a haiku

    Blue Monkey casts its spell:

    Spring energy coiled
    swells the gathering wave ...

    clear cerulean sky, chill start
    warms so fast the weather
magic nearly takes my breath ...

limbs & trees downed by last December's
    storm emerge like beached whales
    from the ebbing snow pack,
easy to reach now without need
of snow shoes to carry me
scudding over the frozen sea ...

    chickadee pours a wild freshet
of melody, crow's cawing marks its passage,
    red squirrel's shrill scold sounds
above the mourning dove's steady bass ...

    slim maple trunk braceleted
    by strands of neat-drilled holes
reminds me sapsuckers soon will appear
to tap the trees' spring bounty,
    chasing
    calling
    caroming
    through the woods ...
