The thing has a huge wake, but does not actually appear animate above the water. Looks like a hoax to me, if not by the person taking the video, then by someone who was hoping to be seen. My husband also commented that the video was insanely high quality for a cell phone. I don't have the expertise to express an opinion on that matter.

I don't dismiss uncanny things outright, because keeping an open mind is an essential part of the scientific method (and besides, mysteries are more fun before they are solved) but this didn't look uncanny to me - except perhaps uncannily wooden for something that is supposed to be an animal.

At first it looked to me like a moose, but that wake is awfully bit. As far as it being a hoax, I don't know if this is relevant or not, but the person who posted it on youtube has taken down the comments section saying they weren't saying it was "Champ," just that it was strange.

lacking ears.
