How is it that you get info about Northampton, MA gigs and call that local but fail to get information about, say, Ricks in Newfane, where there is live jazz every Thursday. Perhaps some of the local Dover/Wilmington area places like Gringos that have live music also?

Check here for Peter Miles' schedule locally, he has a few dates that would be 'local'...

There are so many more out there, I am curious as to just how inclusive you intend your 'Guide' to be? Do you only look for select acts or are you just not aware of other venues?

I usually check local venues websites, collect the information, and post it all together. That way people don't have to go searching tons of websites themselves. I've been doing this as a service to the public. Your post seems to question the quality of my effort.

First of all, Gringos and the other venues in Mt Snow valley don't have websites as far as I know. (If they do and it is a venue that you think should be included please let me know). I'm not about to go calling up every single music venue and asking them who is playing. But if they have a website I can do the research easily and compile my list.

Secondly, I usually do include Ricks Tavern. For some reason I forgot this week. Thanks for reminding me.

SATURDAY, June 20, Coydog, Rick's Tavern, Newfane, VT, FREE!

Thirdly, yes, I know Rick's has great jazz Thursday nights. It is actually incredible music that I often enjoy. However, my list is only for the weekend. Thus, I don't include the jazz night.

    Enjoy the weekend!

    Derek-

    Thanks for your response.

I didn't intend to question the quality of your effort, and apologize if I offended you. I was questioning the information gathering process used. I think it is great that you go to the trouble to compile and post this information. Thank you for doing this. I appreciate it, as I'm sure others do too, especially the musicians.

Is there any reason you limit the information to just the weekend? It would seem that the 'weekend' is different for different people. Some would surely say it starts Thursday-ish, or maybe even right after cresting the hump on Wednesday-ish. And as you pointed out, there is live music other nights besides just Friday and Saturday, that folks might like to see and hear.

Perhaps if you contacted the venues that don't have a website (but might like to be included in your recap) ONCE, and let them know that if they wanted to be included in your list that they had to contact YOU, in a timely fashion, when music events are happening. Or maybe you could look on other websites or weekly papers in this area that DO have the music information from venues that don't have a website (Valley Advocate, others)

    Try some of these-

Maybe iBratt develops some sort of interactive entertainment calendar. Chris, any comment?
    iBratt calendar

To be clear(er), I did look at the iBrattleboro calendar, which has some very local music events, and a lot of other types of calendar events on it. What I was thinking of was more of a music-only calendar whereby many more music events, of all types, over a greater area that folks might travel to, could be listed in one place. Maybe within an hour radius, maybe the Northeast, ??

While we're at the iBratt suggestion box, is there any way you could have a Public Notices section, and include property transfers, police logs, press releases, and any other items that don't always make big enough print to read anywhere?

If you would be willing to get them and post them, we'd be happy to
put up property transfers, etc. We're still looking for some parent who
is concerned enough about schools to go to the meetings and cover
    them, too.

iBrattleboro is all citizen-written, so it can be anything people are
willing to take the time to write about. We do put up all the press
    releases that come our way.

I like this weekly guide format Derek came up with - it allows him to
highlight the things he finds, plus has a way for people to comment
and add to the list. For us readers, it becomes a great reminder to go
    out.
