FATHER'S DAY SPECIAL:
DRAA HOBBS QUINTET PERFORMS WITH SPECIAL GUEST PETER SOLLEY
On Sunday, June 21, at 8:00 PM, Hammond B3 organ player and Grammy-nominated record producer Peter Solley joins the Draa Hobbs Quintet for a special evening of jazz and blues. The concert will take place at the Phelps Barn, part of the Old Tavern at Grafton in Grafton, VT. The concert is free to those who eat dinner at the Tavern. General Admission is $10.
In addition to being an exciting jazz keyboard player, Pete Solley has enjoyed a very successful career in the rock and roll world. He was a member of the British progressive rock group Procol Harum. He has recorded with Eric Clapton and Al Stewart, among others, and his production credits include The Romantics' 1980 hit single “What I Like About You.” He is the recipient of a number of gold records for his work as a producer.
Solley will be performing with Draa Hobbs on guitar, Scott Mullett on tenor sax, George Kaye on bass, and Peter Moutis on Drums.
Draa Hobbs is a freelance guitarist who performs extensively as a band leader and sideman throughout the Northeast. Draa has performed with some of the top names in jazz, including Vic Juris, Attila Zoller, Lee Konitz, David Amram, and pianist Don Friedman. He has appeared on a number of artist recordings, including his own 2000 release, ‘Draa Hobbs: Solo Guitar.’
A highly respected performer on the music scene in southern New England, tenor sax virtuoso Scott Mullett has played and toured with some of the finest big bands in the world, including those of Woody Herman and Artie Shaw. He is also founder and director of the Keene Jazz Orchestra, now in its fourth year.
Bassist George Kaye has toured and recorded with Houston Person & Etta Jones (1996-2001) Clark Terry, Al Grey, Zoot Sims, Jack Wilkins, Nick Brignola, Tal Farlow, Doc Cheatham, James Spaulding, Joe Lovano, and Jackie Terrason.
Drummer Peter Moutis is one of the top percussionists in the Boston area. He is a long standing member of the Scott Mullett Quartet, and has performed with guitarist Peter Bernstein, Jerry Bergonzi and Tony Carelli.
