It's a great idea. I haven't heard of an exchange around here*, but
sharing of lawnmowers, snowblowers, chainsaws, clippers, and other tools
would be a useful program for neighborhoods to start.

*There may be one, though.

There is a tool library in Takoma Park, Maryland. People really seemed to like it, though we never used it because we lived on the other side of the tracks in D.C. and weren't eligible.

I wonder if the library (for books) might be interested in helping someone start something like this. Or maybe the co-op? I don't know of one currently in existence, but there are a lot of great organizations that might already have the required structure in place to make it easy to do.

it would certainly be useful to me. I have a small lawn and have been looking for a cheap mower that does not run on gas. Although this year my yard seems to be all clover so it has not bothered me as much this year.
