I'm not sure how many people have been following the Boglioli trial, but I just noticed that Rutland Herald and Deerfield Valley News are reporting the jury found him guilty of voluntary manslaughter. (I hope DVN does not mind being linked to!)
The jury apparently did not think his self defense claim was quite strong enough, because, while they thought Boglioli had reason to believe he was in immediate danger, his use of force may not have been proportional to the level of danger.
I do not know either of the men involved in this case, but I have been keeping an eye on it because it seemed like such a tragic story. I am glad there was a compromise position for the jury to take between second-degree murder and complete innocence. According to the DVN report, sentencing will be scheduled in about three weeks.
