The Nuts are Starting to Crack

MediaI've been hearing and reading the the presidents approval ratings are starting to drop. Appears people are getting the change they thought they could believe in. Here's a story from the L A Times. Not exactly a source like Fox News is it.

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/02/obama-bush.html

Then there was the exchange between Robert Gibbs and Helen Thomas.

    http://news.lalate.com/2009/07/02/helen-thomas-robert-gibbs-youtube/

Appears even the liberal media is concerned over the control by the government. She went after Gibbs like she was Ann Coulter. Bill O'Reilly owes Helen a high 5

Yeah, this thing about the administration contacting a well-known and respected blogger about getting a question or two from Iranians he's been in contact with is really frightening.

Why they didn't even try to hide the fact that they contacted him.

Why they even told the blogger they didn't want to know the question in advance but they just wanted him to be in a position where he could participate in the press conference...something not usually "allowed" by the traditional and close-circled press corps.

This is really an outrage. And speaking of nuts starting to crack....This is EXACTLY THE SAME THING as placing a secret plant whose day job is running porn sites online and apparently working as a prostitute into the press corps with fake credentials for months and months with scripted soft-ball questions for the president.

Absolutely. The Obama administration will be a one term fluke. Americans are starting to wake up and are realizing that Obama policies are doing nothing to curb job losses or aid economic recovery. In fact every move he makes seems to be anti business, more taxes, more government involvement and control, more taxes, bigger government, more taxes, unions with too much influence, more taxes. Cap and trade bills (passing without being read) is going to cost more jobs, while raising substantially the cost of living for all Americans. There is something going on here that deserves more scrutiny from the press than it has been getting. Maybe now the gloves will start to come off. Maybe the MSM is realizing their relevance might be advanced if they actually start doing their job.

Alan If your "Absolutely" refers to my post you'd better re-read it.
It stands to reason and Obama even warned that straightening out this mess that was created by this past administration was going to be a long slow hard arduous process and not even God could turn it around overnight. The man's been in office for what now 6 months....it's time to be realistic and give him a chance. Bush put us on the edge of one of our biggest economic downfalls and it's not going to happen overnight.

And this press situation is a big boo hoo about nothing by a close-ranked professional press corps that sees even the possibility of their livelihoods waning and are scared to death. So they close ranks and don't want to let anyone else in.

There was nothing wrong with what the administration did unlike how Bush et al handled press releases. This administration is so much more open and even handed that it's mind boggling.

Yeah, don't get too excited. I thought the same thing in 2004. I mean, who would vote to return to office a mentally challenged dingbat who had been such a failure in every respect? Who was such an obvious tool of a small group with an agenda? Who assaulted our liberties on such a frequent basis? Whose dishonesty was so transparent? Whose aggressive imperialist agenda was so apparent? Whose disdain for struggling working Americans was so clear?

No, as long as Obama doesn't do something as dumb as sit on his thumbs during a major disaster, or try to dismantle social security, or embarass the entire nation by groping a foreign leader, he'll be back for second term.

Americans appear to be okay with massive deficit spending, particularly now that some of it's being spent on us rather than just on imperialist adventures abroad.

And the whole "socialist" claim has only fooled those who want to be fooled. Anyone with any sense knows that financing the banks and big corporations isn't socialism, it's propping up the failed capitalist system.

Bush was re-elected in 2004 because most Americans didn’t swallow the negativity coming out of the Democratic camp. Harry and Nancy (the two biggest nitwits to ever occupy a seat in Congress) were wrong about Iraq. The war was not lost and Americans were not ready to give up. The other reason he won is simple. John Kerry. As for Bush’s small group of controllers, I dare say Obama has his own yoke of controllers, such as unions, ACORN, and the welfare community. Your claim of assault on liberties should still be resonating because nothing has changed under your Obama man. Now I’m sure you’ve heard some of the just released interviews with Saddam Hussein in captivity. He admitted to trying to fool the world and especially Iran that he had WMD. He did a good enough job to fool the world’s best intel agencies. As far as I can see Bush didn’t lie about that. You really need to get over it and start taking a close look at how what Obama is doing is not helping the economy.

***Harry and Nancy (the two biggest nitwits to ever occupy a seat in Congress) ***
Whoa! I don't know about that. If you're talking Democratic nitwits, I think you have Zell "I'd like to challenge you to a duel" Miller way out in front. If you're talking about Republican nitwits, there's a long, long list from Boehner to McConnell to Tancredo.

    ***were wrong about Iraq.***
Funny thing is, it soon became clear they were right about Iraq.

***The war was not lost and Americans were not ready to give up.***
Bush needed a second term to completely bollox it up.

***The other reason he won is simple. John Kerry.***
Well, if you mean the Rovian image of John Kerry, yes, you have a point. Americans were fooled into voting for a disastrous idiot. And his last term did prove to be a disaster, both for America and for his own party.

***Your claim of assault on liberties should still be resonating because nothing has changed under your Obama man.***
No, you're right, it hasn't changed and that does bother me. Of course, it won't change under any one of the Republican dunderheads, either.
The socialism for the rich hasn't changed, either. He's redistributing our money to banks and corporations, just like the Republicans have been doing for the last 30 years.

***(Saddam) did a good enough job to fool the world’s best intel agencies.***
As I'm sure you know, he did no such thing. The world's best intel agencies said there's no actual evidence of WMD in Iraq. The world's worst president and his cabinet simply lied about what the world's best intelligence agencies were saying. You may remember the aluminum tubes and yellowcake?

***As far as I can see Bush didn’t lie about that.***
You must mean other people did the lying for him.

In six short months the bumper stickers, “Hope and Change” and “Yes, we can”, on all those little foreign cars are nauseating. Although they may pretend otherwise, the partisan choir know he’s finished, their defenses of BO's over-priced medical and cap-and-trade schemes are lost. Rushed congressional bills that no one reads, is just pathetic, where is the leadership, debate and transparency? Everyone knows we can’t afford them. His stimulus plan - if you could call it his, maybe it’s Geithner’s, maybe it’s someone else’s, maybe it’s not a plan at all - has produced absolutely nothing. In fact, I have met not one person of any ideology who can say otherwise with confidence. Anyone have a stimulus job?

On foreign policy, it’s more embarrassing. He switches positions every day, apologizes for our success, while acting like a snob with our allies and then, when people with genuine passion for democracy emerge on the scene (Iranian protesters- in case you missed it), behaves like a cringeworthy, equivocating creep.

At least Helen Thomas got it right when she called out the latest BO tactic of selective pre-screening of reporters before press conferences... "ARE WE PUPPETS"? yea Helen, they been playing you folks like a violin, wake up! http://www.breitbart.tv/white-house-reporters-grill-gibbs-over-selected-questions-for-obama/

I agree. He's continuing Bush polices left and right, and not living up
    to his campaign promises.

    - signing statements
    - ties to corporate america
    - no repeal of DADT
    - support for the DOMA
    - increasing troop levels in Iraq
    - increasing troop levels in Afghanistan

    and so on.

He should just admit that he is a Republican.

You forgot to mention the National Energy Tax aka Cap & Trade, or the fact that unions get a pass on it, or the fact that non union shops cannot bid on any Stimulus jobs, or the caving in to the teacher's unions, or the government controlled health care plan that government employees won't be subject to, or how he ran rough shad over secured lenders and gave the GM and Chrysler to the unions, or how his stimulus program was more about growing government than creating jobs, or how he refuses to investigate ACORN in spite of overwhelming evidence for the need to do so. I could go on but I think you get the point, I hope.

Gov't spending has been out of control my entire life. This is nothing
new, other than it continues rather than ends.

And taxes keep going up, almost always for people who are not

Obviously that's not what we're most concerned with although you were. What's notable is your's and the regime's hypocrisy. What I am concerned about is the massive deficit spending going on with more in the works. There is only one way this is going to be paid for, and it's not going to be good for you, me or the economy.

The funniest thing I've seen is Darth Cheney criticizing Obama for withdrawing troops from the cities in June- a police proposed by his own administration.

7/1/9 Before election, Wal-Mart Bad. After election, Wal-Mart Good!!! President Barack Hugo Obama has gone from joining with democrat unions to bash Wal-mart for not hiring union workers to loving Wal-mart for supporting his idea to mandate health insurance coverage by large employers. Wal-Mart used to be the bad guy and Obama’s campaign was critical of Hillary Clinton for her ties to the Wal-Mart Board. What he didn’t tell you then is that he and his wife made a lot of money from the Treehouse Foods Co., which does big-time sales with Wal-Mart. In at least two years he and Michelle pocketed more than $100,000 in money made from Treehouse sales at Wal-Mart! He makes big money from this liberal hated ‘evil’ corporation!

You guys spend so much time crying wolf that if there is any actual scandal with the Obama administration, no one is going to listen to you. Why don't you save it for sometime when it's actually important and meaningful?

The lack of strategy among Republicans is staggering. They have been crying wolf about the Democrats more and more loudly and desperately since they took a dislike to Hillary - and guess what? People have tuned it out. If Republicans knew what was good for them, they would play nice with Obama, who is the popular kid right now, and do some genuine negotiating with him from a conservative perspective rather than shrieking like a bunch of lunatics about fake scandals and conspiracies. Or at least zip their lips until they actually had something to say. That would actually be in their own self-interest.

And as far as selfless, Christian acts: what ever happened to patriotism and putting country first and all that? How does complete obstruction of our political system work toward these goals?

You must be okay with this gazillion dollar deficit we are ringing up, so much so that the dollar as the worlds basis currency is now being challenged. We are in unchartered territory, but aren't you, Paula, the least bit concerned about how this debt is going to be repaid, and the effects that burden will have on our economy and all of us as individuals? Sec Clinton is playing diplomatic "house" with the ex-Hondorian
President while Obama is enjoying an overseas jaunt. This mess in
Central America will come back to haunt him. Cuba and VZ are dying to
send in the first team (Fidel and Chavez) to help out while the USA
shows its true colors sending in State. Not a good message....

We have defeated tyranny, fascism, terrorism, socialism, Marxism, communism, radicalism, etc. over the timeline of 233 years as a nation. We have become the superpower of the world, not through force, but through our Constitution of Freedom. All we fight for and represent is freedom. That is sadly beginning to be destroyed by emperor Obama.

-When given the chance to stand strong for freedom in Iran, he ignored them.
-When given the chance to stand strong for freedom and constitution in Honduras, he supported the dictator.
-When given the chance to stand strong for American values overseas on numerous trips, he called us arrogant.

    No, not Limbaugh.

SJD, I was struck by how grammatical and well-formed and properly spelled and punctuated these sentences of yours were! Forgive me, but it made me think maybe they weren't yours.

    Does this look familiar? http://jumpinginpools.blogspot.com/2009/07/obamas-national-security-is-threat-to.html

Are you the guy on the left in the banner? Or did you just copy and paste?

Just FYI: even if you are quoting yourself, it is actually a kind of plagiarism not to indicate where the quote comes from. But I suspect you are quoting someone else, without attribution. I bet Mr. K, the author of this passage, would not be pleased. I completely disagree with his politics and his point, but writing is both my living and my avocation, and he is a writer too. Mr. K has rights, and I'm here to defend them.

Do you realize you have stolen Mr. K's property? Does this seem like ethical behavior to you? Your cute little sig just underneath the passage you plagiarized from Mr. K advocates driving liberals crazy by "being responsible." I'll tell you a secret: it's actually hypocrisy that drives us crazy. Try being responsible for a change.

This all makes liberals laugh, not get angry. Obama himself gets
    liberals angry on his own.

Want to annoy liberals? Just admit that Obama is like Bush. Support
the guy. Embrace his signing statements, wars, troop increases, favors
to the rich... in other words, be honest about him. Say you love him
and hope he succeeds. Remind people that he is a far-right Democrat,
and won't do squat for liberals or leftists. That would do it.

Saying he is a whacky leftist socialist emperor makes us giggle. It
doesn't make us angry. Keep it up! More please!

Yes, and quit sniveling about "socialism" when he spends hundreds of billions propping up your capitalism just like the republicons before him. You just sound like you don't know what you're talking about.

If ONLY he was a socialist. Even a little.

Yes, perhaps, but you need to get a voice, maybe with enough voices a course correction can be made before it's too late. Then again, some folks are just happy as a clam at this point. 3.5 years is along time to collect the rope needed...

This whole thread reminds me of a famous quote of Mark Twain on humanity:

Looks like our first Lady is high maintenance, while a lot of people can't find 9 bucks in their purse she sports a $900 dollar clutch. Remember the $540 dollar sneakers she wore to the food bank. Moving on up takes on whole new meaning...

Wow, boy, you are getting desperate! And I feel for you,

    boy

because reality, she is becoming a harsh mistress eh?

So, yeah, elites have always spent lavishly. Google on these keywords : "barbara bush spending shoes travel dollars"

    And read what you read.

It goes around and around. No one political camp, Democrat or Republican, has a true edge on being more "for the people" and down to earth than any other. They each simply favor slightly different social groups.

But YOU exist in the camp of folks who are both *Victimized* by fascist policy more than anybody else, yet ALSO cheer lead for the same policy's more than anybody else.

    Which makes you a sucker.

Suckers bets . . . its what Vegas and Reno were built on, Suckers Bets are safe bets. But its never too late to wake up!

Well, I don't know about high maintenance as I don't know her. But it
is not lost upon merchandisers that when the 1st lady or her kids wear
a piece of clothing, people rush out and buy ther garment for
themselves or their kids. J Crew had a big rush on items that the kids
wore at the swearing in ceremnony. I would bet a lot of the stuff Mrs.
O wears she gets for free. Mrs Reagan and Mrs Kennedy use to get all
sorts of dresses to wear to promote American fashion. I am a little
sick of all the nonsense surrounding clothing of public figures. McCain
got slammed for wearing 500 dollar balley loafers. I bet he has
trouble tieing his shoes so slip ons are easier for him. And then the
Palins and their wardrobe. Frankly they all look like fashion tragedies,
who wants that on national TV.
