Vermont Center for Photography Starts Artist's Book Project
Like many things in this modern world, getting your own artist book printed is easy and inexpensive. The difficult part of the process is deciding what your book is about, what goes in your book, and how the design works with the content.
The Vermont Center for Photography (VCP) will start a year long project for VCP members that will end in each participant self publishing their own photography book. The book will then be on display at VCP and available for purchase.
The project is a part of the ongoing Portfolio Night group that meets every third Thursday of each month. Any member of VCP can attend this relaxed group to discuss photographs brought in to share and get feed back on.
During the next year, every other month will be devoted to the Artist Book Project. The group will explore what makes a good photography book, research printing companies for price and quality, decide on a body of work, edit photos and decide placement, and write and edit copy. The year will end with everyone getting their own project printed. Participants will pay all of their own expenses.
Participates in the Artist Book Project must be current members of the Vermont Center for Photography. Membership is available to all photographers via an application and portfolio review by the gallery committee of VCP. The Vermont Center for Photography is located at 49 Flat Street in Brattleboro, Vermont. Please contact VCP at 802-251-6051 and vcphoto@sover.net, or Al Karevy at 603-357-2644 or via the web site at www.vcphoto.org The Vermont Center for Photography is a (501-3-c) non-profit.
