Spence Powers Chester Over Ludlow / Webber Blanks Putney in CRVBL

    RecreationChester 14, Ludlow 7

Ludlow - Chester Pirate Jamie Spence put on a mid-July fireworks display against Ludlow Saturday night (July 18). The left-handed slugger went 4-for-4, blasted three homers and drove in seven runs in his team's 14-7 victory. His performance marks the first time in Connecticut River Valley Baseball League history that a player has hit three home runs in a single game. Spence also pitched two scoreless innings of relief, striking out five.

Chuck Harriman (2-for-4, double 2 RBIs), Doug Roberts (2 hits), and Craig Mellish (double) also had good days at the plate and Scott Coursen earned the victory on the mound.

    Brattleboro 5, Putney 0

Dummerston - Pitching was the key to the Brattleboro River Rats' 5-0 victory over the Putney Fossils on Sunday, July 19. Eric Webber scattered seven hits over nine innings, did not give up a walk, and struck out five to earn his second complete-game shutout of the season. The tireless righty was helped at the plate by Marty Vallender (2-for-4, double, run), Matt Reed (2 hits, 2 runs), and Dan Trudeau (2-for-4, double, run 3 RBIs). Paul Ethier doubled for Putney.

Thanks again for the nice update...
I'm STILL hoping to see some games, but I'm curious what's going on when August comes since the schedule seems to stop there...
    Are there playoffs coming up??

    Timmy,

The CRVBL playoffs start on August 9 and the championship game is scheduled for August 23. Hope you have a chance to attend a game or two!
