Bartleby’s Books welcomes local author Jeremy Gorman on Saturday, August 15th at 6pm. Mr. Gorman will read from and discuss his new book, Ramblings of an Outdated Old Coot: Bettering Tomorrow with Past Insights.
An eighteen year resident of Wilmington, Mr. Gorman and his late wife Peg were foster parents of teenage children for 45 years. “That is an education of itself”, says Mr. Gorman. He asserts that there is no facet of society that teenagers do not challenge. They are creative and daring, and can bring clever viewpoints to the workings of society.
In that spirit of creativity and daring, Mr. Gorman’s new book, Ramblings of an Outdated Old Coot, addresses forty of the world’s problems and argues that problems are often opportunities to grow and learn. From baldness and gardening to Iran and taxes, the book invites new ideas and cooperation to achieve positive results. There is humor in the book, but the message is clear. Man’s greatest asset is his ability to cooperate. Almost everything we see and do is a result of cooperation. Why then, Mr. Gorman asks, do we fight so much? Come to Bartleby’s on August 15 at 6pm and add your little bit to world progress.
Bartleby’s Books is located on North Main Street in downtown Wilmington. We have extended our summer hours and are now open until 7pm Monday through Wednesday, and 8pm Thursday through Saturday. Stop by or contact us at (802) 464-5425 for more information or to reserve your copy of the book.
