On Wednesday, September 30, at 7pm in the Meeting Room, Brooks Memorial Library will host a book discussion on John Elder's Reading the Mountains of Home, with Vermont Humanities Scholar Deborah Luskin.
Elder’s genre-mixing book combines natural history of the Vermont woods, a close reading of Robert Frost’s poem “Directive,” and a memoir-like examination of family relationships. John Elder is a professor of English and environmental studies at Middlebury College.
Deborah Lee Luskin has been facilitating book discussions around Vermont since 1986. She holds a PhD in English literature from Columbia University, and has taught literature and writing in hospitals, colleges, prisons, and schools.
This event is sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council. Books are available at the main circulation desk.
