We have some great photographers around here and an excellent town for taking pictures. With that in mind, I'd suggest many here are well-positioned to enter and win this new photo contest from the Orton Foundation.
Here's what they say:
"If you could capture the authenticity, character and spirit of your town in a photograph, what would it look like? Enter the Orton Family Foundation’s first Heart & Soul Photo Contest to give us your answer!
Simply take up to five pictures that capture the culture, landscape, traditions or values of a town you love. Visit our website to find out more about how to enter and upload your images to the Community Heart & Soul Photo Contest Group on Flickr. The entry period lasts until January 5, 2010, and finalists will be announced in late January.
We’ll then open it up for public voting to choose the top three entries. The First Prize winner will be awarded a Flip minoHD camcorder. Second and Third Prize winners will receive a gift certificate to B&H Photo/Video. All finalists will be showcased on our website and in the Heart & Soul gallery at the Foundation’s COMMUNITYMATTERS10 Conference in Denver, Colorado, October 5th through 7th, 2010.
Visit the Community Heart & Soul Photo Contest Group on Flickr to see what’s posted and comment on other entries. We also welcome you to share the challenge with your friends and neighbors, fans and followers, blogs and forums—you name it! And don’t forget to return in January to vote for the winners.
Community Heart & Soul is in your hands!
The Orton Family Foundation, based in Middlebury, Vermont, and Denver, Colorado, seeks to help small cities and towns discover and describe their heart and soul—the collective attributes that make communities unique—and build on those attributes in planning toward a vibrant, enduring future.
