On Saturday February 6th, celebrated jazz vocalist and composer Peter Eldridge will be teaching and performing at The Open Music Collective in Brattleboro, Vermont.
Eldridge will be teaching a hands-on workshop for singers at 12pm. He will focus on vocal technique – from warm-ups to key signatures to musicality. This masterclass will involve individual performance and critique.
Following the workshop will be an 8pm concert featuring Eldridge, David Goodrich, Ben Wittman, and Jamie Macdonald.
Eldridge has released three solo recordings in addition to his twenty-years of success as a member and co-founder of New York Voices, a two-time Grammy-winning jazz vocal ensemble. Downbeat praises his voice calling it a “strong, far-ranging voice… hauntingly wistful.”
In addition to writing, performing, and/or producing his own music, Eldridge is among the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music teaching jazz voice. He has also worked with other acclaimed artists such as Nancy Wilson, Joshua Redman, Bobby McFerrin, Patti Austin, Ray Brown, and the Count Basie Band.
To describe Peter Eldridge’s music, JazzTimes called it ”perennially classy.” http://Allmusicguide.com says that Eldridge is “in the celebrated tradition of melodic poets, most famously represented by such disparate voices as Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison and Steely Dan – singer/songwriters who create catchy, beautiful tunes with insightful lyrics that are both personal and universal.”
Concert tickets are available at The Open Music Collective. Admittance to both the concert and the workshop is $40 for adults and $30 for students. Tickets to the concert only are $20 for adults and $10 for students.
