Given that the underground pipes that "don't exist" are the conduit for the water laden with tritium, and it is beleived that they very well maybe the source of the leak,
and given that the whether or not the plume of tritium spreading from the souce at the nuclear waste plant contaminates the water supple is partial determined by how much radioactove water leaks from the plant
shouldn't they the damn leaking coffee pot be turned off NOW ?
The state announced that they will be increasing the testing Brattleboro's water supply. If that's supposed to be comforting, well, it aint.
Why not turn the damn plany off NOW, and then find the leak?
Perhaps it is not possible to find the leak unless the damn thing is spewing into the water table. Great.
Shut it off now;.
Here's an extract from an article in the Burlington free Press.
"Samples taken since the discovery of the leak at Vermont Yankee have revealed radioactive levels as high as 21,000 picocuries per liter, Irwin said. The latest test, taken Thursday, showed 19,800 picocuries, Vermont Yankee spokesman Rob Williams said.
Federal standards for drinking water are 20,000, Irwin said, but he noted that the heightened levels of tritium have not been found in drinking water. The state and Vermont Yankee have increased the frequency of tests done on nearby drinking water, including at Vernon Elementary School, the Connecticut River and the Brattleboro municipal water supply, Irwin said.
Irwin said he's not sure when crews will determine the source of the leak. "Hopes are that it's a matter of days," he said.

Given that I type more misspellings than anyone else on ibrattleboro,
shouldn't I take a new year's resolution to not post anything until I read it for typos?
Maybe from now on, I can donate a dollar for every typo to the ibrattleboro kitty.
