The deadline for handing in completed petitions to the Town Clerk was this afternoon. Brattleboro voters will have a choice in electing both the 1 and 3 year Selectboard seats this year - no one is unopposed.
Incumbents John Allen and Jesse Corum have turned in petitions and are running for the one year seat. Also running for the one year seat are Leah A. Stuart, and former Selectboard member and state representative Daryl Pillsbury. Voters may choose two from this list of four.
Former Selectboard member Spoon Agave is challenging incumbent Dora Bouboulis for the 3 year seat. Voters can choose one.
Rumored challenges by Scott McCarty never materialized.
The other looming election battle this year is for Town Grand Juror, a position that doesn't do too much. Brattleboro voters will have to choose between Richard H. Cooke and A. Kurt Daims.
Other names going on the ballot in 2010 include Timothy O'Connor, Jr. for Moderator of Town Meeting, J. Eric Annis for Lister (3 years), Steven Rowell for First Constable, Richard H. Cooke for Second Constable, Marshall Wheelock for Trustee of Public Funds ( 3 years), Russell Janis for School Director (3 years), David Schoales and Mark Truhan for School Directors, Robert Woodworth for Brattleboro Union High School Director (3 years), and Ricky Davidson for Brattleboro Union High School Director (2 years).

Is there a substantial policy difference there - are both candidates not progressive?
Maybe Spoon and Dora need to present platforms and issues.
Probably Spoon first: Let us know what you saw that influenced you to run.
