ObituariesJosh Werner, of Brattleboro, died on Tuesday, March 9.

When people die, sometimes people make an effort to only say good things about them, about what is like to be in their company.

For, Josh, no effort to select good memories needs to be made in this regard. Josh worked in Natalie Blakes' studio, where my wife Cynthia works. I used to hang around the studio longer than I would have somedays, when Cynthia wasn't there, just to laugh with Josh. Josh always offered good cheer and friendship.

Josh was helping me plan the fake UFO. He took the name Dr Don Pickett Iddel Blede, as his name as a member of "Brattleboro University". He wanted to launch a massive kite from Mt Wantastiquet. He had experience with launching kites, in fact he had used kites in a previous art project of his. He told me on Tuesday that he had sent me a message on Facebook concerning some aspect of the project. I haven't opened the message yet. But he did share with me his specific design plans , and was laughing, and excited about the whole project and its potential to make others laugh.

That was Josh. He was always sincerely eager and spontaneous about wanting to share laughter, and comraderie. He was naturally funny, and outgoing, and sincere. I was really looking forward to getting to know him more, and to collaborating with him.

There will be an announcement in the Reformer about funeral arrangements.

Josh's memorial service will be on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Cabot's Funeral Home in Woodstock, Vermont at 10am. There is a reception at "The Senior Center" at 11am. People are encouraged not to wear black, unless it comforts them, and hats of any shape and size are welcome.

At a later date there will be a memorial somewhere in the woods around Brattleboro.

Not much snow this January. I'm guessing February will end up

    cold, and very snowy
a slushy winter mix of rain and snow
    mild with little snow
