Dummerston, Vermont – August 25, 2010- In 1994, Mary Ellen Copeland wrote a book, Living Without Depression and Manic Depression. It was based on a study she did of the skills and strategies of people who have gotten well and stayed well over time. This was at a time when recovery from mental health issues was not even considered to be possible. This book gave people hope. It led many, many people out of the depths of despair into a rich and rewarding life.

WRAP Plus is an extensive enhancement of the original book that includes findings about mental health recovery and WRAP since 1994. Filled with NEW IDEAS for successfully developing, using and updating the popular Wellness Recovery Action Plan for prevention, recovery and wellness, this new book includes stories from those who are LIVING WRAP to stay well and are learning to anticipate and address life’s hurdles. The WRAP system (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) uses the accomplishments developed and implemented by the people being served and the people who care for them.

“I am very excited about WRAP Plus and look forward to reading it from cover to cover -- as a collector of wellness tools, I know that WRAP Plus is going to add to my collection and help me enhance the way I already use my beloved WRAP!”- Carol Bailey Floyd

WRAP shifts the focus in mental health care from 'symptom control' to prevention and recovery. The result is significant reduction in the need for costly mental health and emergency services as people who experience mental health issues effectively take responsibility for their own wellness by using a variety of self-help techniques and reach out for and use the support of a network of family members, friends, and health care providers.

WRAP Plus is available online at www.WRAPandRecoveryBooks.com or by phone at 802-254-2092 for $19.95.

Mary Ellen Copeland is an author, educator and mental health recovery advocate. Her work is based on her on-going study of the day-to-day coping strategies of people who experience psychiatric symptoms, and how people have gotten well and stayed well. She undertook these studies out of her own frustration with dealing with her own recurring mental health challenges. She has achieved long-term wellness and stability by using many of the coping strategies she learned while writing her books. Mary Ellen lives in Dummerston, Vermont with her husband and business partner, Ed Anthes.
