HealthBecause I do not listen to any radio station besides WRSI, NPR and WVEW,

I have managed NOT to hear Katty Perry's song "Teenage Dream".*

    Well, until yesterday....

Just one listen, just one, and

I can't get it out of my head.

Over and over and over. snippets of it keep richocetting around in my skull.

    "We are going to be

    young forever!"

    AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !

"Be my teenage dream, you put sugar in my cream, I'm gonna live forever"

Ok, those aren't the right lyrics, but they aren't far off.

Will I ever regain the use of my inner auditory processing portions of my brain ???

    - Rolf

    * who knows who wrote it. She sings it, some production music factory team with graduate degrees in psychology or music or advertising, which they put to bad use, probably actually wrote the lyrics and "compsed" the melody.

    How to Regain Your Sanity

Sing the words of the Gilligan's Island to the tune of Amazing
    Grace.

That should clear out the pathways. Repeat as necessary.

    Oh my god,

but, do you have the lyrics at hand ?

And, did you come up with this cure your self?

    AND

Are you sure that there are no side effects of this cure ?

    Are you?

Because it seems fraught with risk...

It's worked for me in the past.

This is a bit like curing hiccups, though - folk remedies work

"Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
a tale of a fateful trip,
that started from this tropic port,
    aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailin' man,
    the Skipper brave and sure,
five passengers set sail that day,
    for a three hour tour,
    a three hour tour.

    The weather started getting rough,
    the tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
    the Minnow would be lost.
    The Minnow would be lost.

The ship aground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle
    with Gilligan,
    the Skipper too.
    A millionaire and his wife,
    a movie star,
    the proffessor and Mary Ann,
    here on Gilligan's Isle. "

    AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!

I will sue you for every penny Chris Grotke, and I will hire the same lawyer that the last person who sued iBrattleboro used, so WATCH OUT !

    Did you do it?

Is Katy Perry still in your head? No - Gilligan is! It works!

Well, granted, Gilligan is in my head instead.

    Well, that is to say,

UNTIL YOU MENTIONED HERE NAME AGAIN !!!

But, I will tell the lawyer, who assured me that we had a solid case, to back off.

    Sincerely,

Rolf, who really needs to get back to editing video
( which should effectively banish Katty, as well as Gilligan...)

    meant to say,

"Until you mentioned HER name again, here".

You caused a temporary relapse, see.

I need a "her name" filter which will just block "her name" from showing up on my screen.

Or maybe I need to edit...

I recently watched South Pacific on PBS and couldn't stop
singing "...talking happy talk, talk about things you like to
doooooo" in my head for a week or so.

I had to listen to a Fishbone CD twice through to break the
    spell.

Katty Perry installed her brain worm in me last week; it was
rough going but getting away into a place that has no radio
and no cell coverage(most of Vermont!) has helped alot.
    God,I hate those brain worms...

At my former workplace, we discovered that singing one portion of "Piano Man" will cancel out any other head tune. This has been scientifically tested and proven effective.

..to remove any head runner (a song you can't get out of your head) simply hum/sing Rudolf the Red nose reindeer or other favorite off season song. Guaranteed to creat a table raza in your mind - a psychic reset button, if you will.

As for Piano Man - is that any different from American Pie - they seem equal weight turkeys to me?

Oh, yeah. That has what I call "The Cartman Effect"- a song which demands completion if only in your head. In Cartman's case, it was "Come Sail Away".

Please keep in mind that the original version went like this.

The ship's aground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle
    with Gilligan,
    the Skipper too.
    A millionaire and his wife
A movie star, and the rest
    Are here on Gilligan's Isle.

Apparently the Professor and Maryanne renewed their contract
and required inclusion in the song after the show was a hit.

I know, it's sick that I actually know this.

Why are all these songs in people's heads my fault? : )
