ArtsCall For Entries - Art Exhibition
"The End of the Romance: Getting Over Oil"
    organized by Mollie Burke

Amy's Bakery Arts Cafe, 113 Main Street, Brattleboro, VT, October 1-25, 2010

Brattleboro Climate Protection and Artists for a Cool Planet invite your participation in an exhibit of art to be held at Amy's Bakery Arts Cafe in October 2010. The purpose is to draw attention to the climate crisis and the urgent need to reduce fossil fuel emissions. The exhibit will coincide with the international day of climate action on 10/10/10 sponsored by the organization 350.org.

The sponsors are looking for works which celebrate connections to the natural world, emphasize the urgent need to reduce fossil fuel emissions, or represent solutions. The work need not be literal; a statement to contextualize it may be helpful.

The exhibition, The End of the Romance: Getting Over Oil will take place at Amy's Bakery Arts Cafe from October 1-25, 2010. The art can be whimsical, comical, or serious.

    Submission guidelines:

    Size-any size approximately up to 36" x 48"

Media - open to all media: paint, collage, drawing, print, photo, poster, graphic design, or anything that could hang on a wall.

Subject - your ideas representing the issue of climate change and/or positive steps to mitigate its effects. For ideas and inspiration, go to 350.org and look at link to artists.
Presentation - All work must be ready to hang with glass, plexiglass, or plastic covering if appropriate.

Term - If you wish to offer the work for sale, Amy's Bakery will take 40% of sales. It is also possible to offer prints of the original work for sale.

Dates of Show - October 1st (Gallery Walk) until October 25th.

Dates and Place for Dropoff - Monday, September 27th and Tuesday, September 28th at Amy's Bakery Arts Cafe, 113 Main St., Brattleboro, VT.

Date for Commitment - Friday, September 17th. Please contact show organizer Mollie Burke with any questions, or to confirm commitment (see attached participation form). Phone 802-257-4844, or e-mail mburke@sover.net.

We hope for broad community involvement, please feel free to pass this message on to others who might be interested in participating.

Would a drawing of a surface or underwater volcano erupting qualify?
