Transition Putney welcomes Dr. Alexis Chesney as she presents “Lyme” on Monday, July 11 from 7-9 pm at the Putney Library. Lyme season is upon us and Dr. Alexis Chesney wants you to be prepared. Alexis is a naturopathic physician, licensed acupuncturist and Lyme specialist at Sojourns Community Health Clinic. The following topics will be addressed during her talk: Lyme prevention, testing, diagnosis, and treatment. Alexis believes that Lyme disease affects the whole person. Therefore, her treatment protocol is individualized to each person and includes pharmaceutical or herbal antibiotics, as well as support for the neuro-immuno-endocrine system.
Originally from New York, Alexis received a BA from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Later, she earned an MS in acupuncture and a Doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the University of Bridgeport. Naturopathic residency brought Alexis to Vermont, where she has decided to continue her work at Sojourns Community Health Clinic. Her training in Lyme disease includes intensive study under Richard Horowitz, MD at Hudson Valley Healing Arts Center in Hyde Park, New York. She is a passionate about Lyme education in Vermont.
