    Robb Farm Beef
    Monday, November 21 2011 @ 06:26 PM GMT+4
    Contributed by: BobC

FoodContinuing a 100+-year tradition of quality, value and family farming, The Robb Family Farm on Ames Hill Road in West Brattleboro is now offering it’s own selection of pasture-raised beef products, which contain absolutely no hormones or antibiotics.

Local residents who have come to trust the Robb Family name for quality milk and maple products will now find a wide variety of superior grass-fed beef products – from steaks to hamburger – at the country store on Ames Hill Road.

To insure the best-tasting beef possible for their new venture, the Robbs purchased an established herd of Hereford and Charlois cattle from a New England farm. The cattle are now grass-fed on the Robb property and cared for individually. Hereford, which are red cattle with white faces, have long been recognized for producing superior tasting and naturally tender steaks. Charlois – an all white cattle and one of the oldest French cattle breeds – is known for its high growth rate and meat yield. In addition to local breeding, all beef processing is conducted by the state-of-the-art Westminster Meats, in Westminster, VT, which is USDA certified and practices humane animal handling techniques.

Among the cuts of fresh-frozen beef offered by the Robb Farm are filet mignon, New York Strip, Rib Eye, Flat Iron, Skirt, Flank and hamburger. All are competitively priced and bear the distinctive Currier & Ives-like family farm label, which dates to the late 1800s.

The Robb Family Country Store, located at 822 Ames Hill Road, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Larger orders or pre-orders are available upon request.

Call 802.258.9087 or visit www.piecesofvermont.com for more information.

I am very happy to read this on iBrattleboro. I thought the loss of the Robb dairy farm was terrible, and am heartened to see this enterprise in natural meats being advertised. The Robbs are a great family who have contributed in countless ways to Brattleboro over the generations. Buying meat from them will help the family to maintain their farm as a working landscape.

p.s. I think they also sell maple products at their store.

This is great news. I still have a lot of beef left from a side that I bought earlier in the year, but when that is gone I will be looking for a new source of grass fed beef. Now I don't have to look too far.

The Robb's have a wonderful legacy of sustainable, top notch farming. This is very good news for our community and the region!

Good news! Not only another local purveyor of beef, but processed in Westminster. All good news.

Thanks for this info, although on the first pass, I didn't see more specifics on the pieceofvermont.com website.

I also have been meaning to thank whomever alerted us to the farm in Athol that slaughters, butchers, and sells on-site. We were very satisfied with their product and prices although would prefer to buy closer to home. We'll check out Robb Farm's steaks for sure.

Fantastic news!! I thought I might have been dreaming when I saw the sign by the side of the road last week - I'll make it point to stop by!

    A, the happy.
