Brattleboro VT - For immediate release - Senator Vince Illuzzi will hold a listening tour in the Greater Brattleboro Area on August 22.
“I am running for State Auditor because it is a position that drives government improvement, “ Illuzzi said. “If you improve the performance of government, you improve the lives of real people. As Senator, I have experience in launching programs, and overseeing the assets and budget of state government. Now I will put that experience to work in an office that evaluates the effectiveness and performance of the ‘investments’ we make every year on behalf of the public,” he said.
Robert Oeser is excited that Illuzzi is coming to town. “Over the last 32 years, Sen. Vince Illuzzi has learned a thing or two about Vermont State Government. I saw him at work as Chair of the Senate Economic Development Committee. He really listened to the people and was able to put their ideas into legislation. It would be great to have Vince and his knowledge and expertise in the Auditor’s Office.”
Oeser noted that Illuzzi has significant ties to Windham County. In his years of service on key Senate committees, Illuzzi took a special interest in issues in Windham County. He voted to close Vermont Yankee and was instrumental in assisting with the purchase of the Latchis Theatre and the restoration of the Bellows Falls Opera House. Vince’s brother Frank is a respected dentist in Brattleboro.
Former State Representative Daryl Pillsbury weighed in and stated that, “I support Sen Illuzzi because when I served with him for eight years I found him to be someone who gets things done and that’s what we need in the Auditor’s Office.”
During the last legislative session, Sen. Illuzzi championed a bill granting relief to mobile home parks in Vermont that were in many cases devastated by tropical storm Irene. Glen Park Mobile Home in Brattleboro was one beneficiary of this progressive and compassionate legislation.
Pillsbury said that as Auditor, Illuzzi will vigorously defend Vermont taxpayer’s interests and demand that government at all levels work well and provide the highest level of fiscal transparency and accountability.
Illuzzi plans to visit Brattleboro on August 22 to listen to the priorities the people of Windham County have for the State’s Auditor’s Office. He will begin the day at Melrose Terrace, visit with Steve West, host of “Live and Local” at WKVT and with Tim Johnson at WTSA. He will stop in at Senior Meals at the Gibson-Aiken Center before travelling to the Brattleboro Retreat, Delta Campus, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Thompson House, the Brattleboro Fire Department, and the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Illuzzi will end his tour of Brattleboro with a reception at the Marina Restaurant hosted by a committee consisting of Joe Bushey, Lauren and Pam Crispe, Dave Emery, Sr., Joe Famolare, Frank Illuzzi, D.D.S., Terry Martin, Robert Oeser, Daryl Pillsbury, and Greg Worden. This bipartisan group highlights his ability to work well with Democrats, Republicans and Progressives and demonstrates that his leadership transcends political labels to benefit working Vermonters.
