They are having the typical first week issues. Closed at
6:30 on Friday (90 mins after "opening") and ran out of
food on Saturday, but friends report the food was really
good, especially a flourless chocolate desert.

I went on Sunday and I plan to be back on a very regular basis. They've done a beautiful job with the space, are incredibly welcoming and gracious and the food was really wonderful. The traditional hot chocolate was really a wonderful way to start my meal. I had the chicken tamale and my partner had the three tortilla.
They also are conscience of their intial limitations. There website indicates limited hours until 12/30 when they roll out their full operation. Take a look before going. Enjoy - I loved it!

Seven of us ate there on Sat and loved it. As many may know, Mucuy and
Christian, the owners, ended up having staffing/cook issues this weekend and I
think they were having trouble figuring out how to proceed...but once we were
seated, it was a great experience.
3 of us had the Onzicil Torta, a creamy, pumpkin-tomato sauce over a fresh
enchilada tortilla, with lightly grilled Zucchini. It was served with beans and rice
with a salsa verde on top. Fantastic flavor and plenty of food to fill us up.
2 of us had Panucho w/ pork topped w/ fresh salsa and tomatillos. Their
vote...two thumbs up.
The chili salsas were fantastic. Mucuy even offered to have us try the "lethal"
habanero/jalapeno salsa, which two of us thoroughly enjoyed.
I think we also had the cochinita adobado (Chicken cooked in achiote, garlic, and
banana leaf) and the 2 tortillas (chicken). All of us were really impressed and all
were very pleased how reasonable the meals were.
The desserts were top notch. I've had some pretty amazing chocolate tortes
over the years and there is only 1 that I can recall that was in the same league
as the "boca negra." It was bursting with flavor, moist and just the right
amount of richness. 3 of us split this. By far, the big winner of the night.
We also shared the flan, which was, again, fantastic.
I had the chocolate abuelita (Mayan hot chocolate) and was very pleased. Piping
hot, just the right amount of spice and full of chocolate.
I think the only critique would be the beverages. The pineapple juice, for
example, was a store bought (Doles) canned juice. Which is fine, but it would be
nice to have some fresh, non-processed options.
The interior is truly amazing and for those who were in the restaurant in
previous incarnations, you will be blown away. Most all of the artwork is
handmade by Mucuy and Alejandra. Mucuy explained how Christian had to
completely redo the train car ceiling. It was obvious they put a lot of work into
the interior.
As a final treat, Mucuy introduced us all to her mother and head chef, Alejandra.
All in all, we loved it and we’ll be back on a regular basis!!
