Socially Responsible Business Conference to Feature Keynoter Lisa Lorimer

Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility’s (VBSR) 17th annual Fall Conference will be held in Manchester, Vermont on Tuesday, November 10. Lisa Lorimer, author and former President and CEO of Vermont Bread Company will present the conference's keynote address. The day-long event will also feature a morning plenary session on envisioning the future of Vermont's economy, and six workshops offering practical information and resources to help companies do better business in a changing economy and present a unique opportunity to network with business leaders in an environment that promotes innovation and collaboration.

Sessions will include how to strengthen our local systems to build a resilient local economy, what factors create a business-friendly economic climate in Vermont, tools and ideas for addressing seasonal business fluctuation, the most effective uses of web-based marketing and social media, responsible practices for reducing costs and creating new business opportunities, and how bright, young student interns can be a valuable resource for companies. Participants include a wide range of the best and brightest small and large companies committed to the multiple bottom line of financial success combined with the well-being of employees, the community, and the planet.

Lisa Lorimer’s afternoon talk will center on the new book she co-authored with Margot Fraser, founder and CEO of Birkenstock, entitled Dealing With the Tough Stuff: Practical Wisdom for Running a Values-Driven Business. The book offers personal insights, advice, stories, and tools for overcoming common and not-so-common challenges in the world of mission-driven business.

The event runs from 7:30AM to 4:30PM and will be held at the Equinox Resort in Manchester Village. Admission is $75 for VBSR members and $90 for non-members. For more information, please visit www.vbsr.org or call (802) 862-8347.

VBSR is a business trade association of over 750 members commited to a multiple bottom line approach to business that values people, planet and profit.
