Mushroom Foray

Herbalist Justin Garner will lead this walk, and will be looking for choice edibles among the weird and wonderful variety. This is the season for lobster mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, hen of the woods (maitake), black trumpets, hedgehog mushrooms and more. Justin will discuss the nutritive, medicinal, and toxic properties of our diverse fungi.

Bring a bag or basket for collecting mushrooms and a mushroom knife or small pocketknife. Be prepared for off-trail hiking in wooded terrain.

The fee for the workshop is $10 for BEEC members/$15 for non-members. Space is limited. For information or to register, please call 257-5785 or visit www.beec.org.
