Medieval Faire - Family Favorite

Date & Time:
Oct 7 2017 - 10:00am - 4:30pm

On Saturday, October 7, from 10 am to 4 pm, The Grammar School in Putney, Vermont, will transform our campus into a medieval village once again as we host our annual Medieval Faire. This event has been a family favorite for 30 years!

Enjoy the festivities while the King and his royal court preside over the Faire. Kids can ride a flying dragon, battle a knight, and watch a live joust on horseback.

Fairgoers can also shop for goods in the village market, watch artisan demonstrations including blacksmithing, woodcarving, chain mail creation and more! You can even be knighted by the King himself!

Other highlights this year include:

Birds of prey from the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum
Fencing demonstrations
Archery and slingshot ranges
Climbing walls
Fairy house making
Face painting
Sir Lancelot’s flying horse
Pony rides
Giant chess
Games for younger children at Merlin’s Midway
Candy-throwing catapult
Scavenger hunt

Admission to the Faire is free!

Walking around the Faire, you will be able to watch a jousting show on horseback, interact with the birds of prey that are on display, see artisan demonstrations that include chain mail, blacksmithing, woodcarving, and weaving. There is live music as well.

For children, there is a cost to go on the rides and games, of which there are many. The unlimited all day pass is $20, or if you prefer you can buy 12 tickets for $10 (rides are between 2-3 tickets).

We also have a tavern with delicious food for lunch with an average meal costing about $8. There is a marketplace of crafts and delicious desserts for sale as well.

All of the proceeds from the Medieval Faire go toward our financial aid fund which serves to make TGS affordable for as many families as possible.
