Just read about a vegan egg substitute - aquafaba.

Garbanzo bean juice!

It is protein packed, and whips up to firm peaks. It also tastes fine.

Here is a recipe for baking some meringues with it.

Salad Ideas

I'm hoping for some new ideas for salads, beyond the usual lettuce, tomato, cuke variety.  Any suggestions?

Dressing advice also welcomed.

Not sure what to make of this.

this is not a group to attack or disagree with each other.

I'm a vegan for ethical reasons. I'm not going to attack anyone, but I'm certainly unapologetic in asserting that there is no such thing as humane dairy, for example. I used to host vegan potlucks at the Co-op—I guess if the aim of this group is to share plant-based recipes, I'm into it, but I can't really tell what kind of "problems" are up for discussion.

it isn't easy, but i do the best i can!

i am a vegitarian who tries to be more vegan. i think it is a continuum rather than one or the other.  and there are different reasons why one choses to not eat meat, animal products or to use them in other ways. there are so many grey areas in life that make our resolve more difficult. i'm not even sure it really is a choice. hell, i don't even like vegetables that much!
