What Do Electric Car Owners Do If They Run Out Of Fuel?

An electric car was on the side of 91 the other day with no one around. If it had been a gasoline powered vehicle I might have thought the owner was walking to a gas station with a can to fill up. But what do electric car owners do if they run out of fuel on the highway? Carry a battery to a charging station? Pay for towing?

In a Pickle

A grave situation I have encountered. I am hoping to get my story out there for help.

I was working for a long standing and real Vermont based company here in town. On December 11th 2016 while loading a truck I felt my left hip buckle as I was trying to get a 400 pound stack over the dock plate. I really thought at that moment had I stayed in that position for a split second longer I would have had the hip give out.

I did finish my shift and did not report it that day. I was working two extra shifts that week, getting ready for Christmas with my Kids. I had been working 67 hour weeks for the whole month. I went home on the 11th, had to be back for my last shift of the 6 day work week in 12 hours. I went in, worked that shift, sore and stiff as usual and got home on the 12th. I had the 13th off, my only day off before signing up for my last 6 day work week before the Holiday. I woke up in real pain and went in and reported it to my HR Director at work. We filled out the accident report with my Supervisor and I was told to go to they're vendor to be looked at.

How Can I Tell If I Have Russian Hackers In My Social Networking Account?

How Can You Tell If You Have A "Russian" Hacker?

In 2014 my Twitter account became full of peculiar tweets in a foreign language that I did NOT write!
I put some of these tweets into Google Translator http://translate.google.com

They appeared to be "Russian", but the content of the few I read did not seem to be anything but harmless advertisements.

Can You Recommend a Good Home Pest Inspector/Expert Near Brattleboro?

I specifically need a "wood-boring insect specialist" to evaluate and potentially treat an area that may or may not have carpenter ants. Would love to hear of others' experiences with this in Brattleboro -- recommendations welcome if you've hired them and been happy with the results! Thanks.

Dump Trump - President Pence?

I hear calls to "Dump Trump" and wonder - is this what is really wanted? If Trump goes, we have President Pence.

Is that truly the preference? If not, what's the follow-up plan?

Holiday lights at the 5/9/91 Roundabout?

Just thought of this as I was driving around the Roundabout this morning.  One day in December when I was driving by, there were a few people in the center of the roundabout setting up what looked like big stars full of lights.  But then they weren't there the next time I drove by.  Does anyone know about this?  Did some people set it up without permission or encounter a lack of electricity?

For perspective, I was involved in the past in the Putney Road Business Association, which became the North End Business Association, which has now been pretty much inactive due to lack of leadership and shortage of volunteers.  We used to do the luminaria around the intersection in the 90s, and for a year or two we put lights on the (at the time very small) trees in the middle of the roundabout.  We had an arrangement with either the town or the state for electricity.

Town Trash Bag Quality?

Just this past week putting out trash in the early morning dark I had the large purple bag split open like a ripe watermelon and no I wasn't over stuffing or using excessive force. The next time around two weeks later when I had less trash going out, the smaller yellow bag failed me when I went to pull the draw string it just simpley ripped off like a fly away rip cord to no where, so I had to do a quick make shift tie job with what was left of excess plastic bag on the top barely binding enough to tie a simple granny knot, not the best way to start the day.The entire package of yellow bags had the same defect.

Should I feel like this is just a fluke in the overall  quality of these costly bags or is anyone else out there had a simular experience?

Long Distance Local Scam Calls?

Recently, our caller ID has shown us calls that identify as though they come from the Bratt Chamber and Famolare, Inc, and the phone numbers listed appear as the correct 802 numbers. When answered they were long distance, foreign-sounding folks making the calls.

Anyone else getting odd long-distance calls from what appear to be local numbers and ID's?

C 10 Over Brattleboro Today?

While at the Brattleboro Literary Festival I head a loud plane, sounded like it was going down Main St. Then a little while later there was another plane that was low flying over the River.  Chris Nutting captured this image of the plane over Putney Road.

Phone Scam?

If you receive a text message from "Brattleboro Savings and Loan Association" saying "Alert for (your phone number). Call 347-218-4082." YOU PROBABLY SHOULD NOT CALL BACK. I think it's a scam. The phone # is listed as an NYC number, and the recording told me that my ATM card is frozen. I do not have an ATM card with BSnL. It asked me to type in my account number.

If you need to contact BSnL, it's probably best to call the number they list in the phone book or online, not the number in this text.

What Draws You to iBrattleboro?

I lived in Putney for twelve years and watched iBrattleboro grow to the strong site it is. I've since moved away to a similar sized city withOUT a citizen journalism/community portal site. I tried to sit by idly and pretend I didn't care, but alas, I really wanted something similar. So, what did I do? I created my own site for my new city, it's called Ashland Talks.

Ashland Talks has been live for almost two months and we've received some community member submissions, but it is still largely me posting news. I don't expect the site to take off over night, but it did get me to start wondering: what is it that draws people to iBrattleboro.com? What do you all like to publish here that you don't just post on Facebook or Nextdoor?

Anyone know what the almost-windowless and doorless, tan, oversized loads going through town are? There seem to be some sort of utlitites attached to the back, maybe air, but otherwsie they are quite non-descript.

iPhone vs. Android?

I am finally ready to upgrade from my flip-phone, so it is time to make a purchasing decision

I have heard that geeks prefer the android system, but less technically astute people (like me) would find an iphone more user-friendly. Then other people say, "No, no, that's not true. You won't have any problem with an android, and you'll love it!"

That leaves me paralyzed, unable to come to a decision. I would be very interested in the persepctive of ibrattleboro participants.

Ear Piercing in Brattleboro?

Does anyone know of any place in town that does ear piercing? The new-ish store on Main Street - Void- was planning on offering piercing options but apparently ran into some resistance from the town and state. 'Welcome to Brattleboro- where smal business dreams come to die.'  Anyway, if anybody knows of a place I'd appreciate the information. Thanks!
