    Sources of Local Data

compiled by Brattleboro Area Affordable Housing, 6/10

    Vermont Housing Data - housingdata.org

Excellent, select data – handier than the Census

Under build a housing data profile (you could also choose "find a rental unit"), at "select profile type" choose general housing data

then: continue and, at "geography," select city/town
    then: continue and select Brattleboro
    then: continue.

It shows town, county and state data – some 2005-9, mostly 2010, some 2011 – helpfully provides past years' data as well (click on "trend" in the grey column at right).

    U.S. Census - "factfinder2.census.gov

Every imaginable kind of data on population, housing and much else -- c. 300 tables of Brattleboro data to choose from -- mostly 2000

On home page click Data Sets in left column
then, in center column, select Census 2010 Summary File 3
Factfinder2" is an entirely redesigned Census website which we still are trying to understand.  Stay tuned.

Vermont Center For Rural Studies - crs.uvm.edu/databank

A great variety of data gathered at UVM

choose type of data (e.g. demographics, agriculture, health, education, housing, etc.)
               geographic coverage (e.g. town)
               search data bank
               Vermont Indicators Online
               Vermont Profiles
Choose a town or city profile

Vermont Economic And Labor Information:  vtlmi.info

Lots of interesting information – most useful may be about what jobs there are and who does them:

On home page, at left, click covered employment
then, in top section, choose Town
then, at top center, Brattleboro and, at left, year or quarter (currently through 4th quarter of 2010)
then, at top right, get data

Not much snow this January. I'm guessing February will end up
warm and spring-like; birds return and flowers bloom
    cold, but not snowy
    cold, and very snowy
a slushy winter mix of rain and snow
    mild with little snow
with a record snowfall on the books
    as mud season
