The Baker Street Readers will bring holiday cheer to the Hooker-Dunham Theater with a dramatic reading of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol on December 9th and 10th at 7 pm.

While most everyone is familiar with A Christmas Carol, due to its many popular film, TV, and stage adaptations, the Readers will present an abridgment of Dickens’ original novella, which contains many moments and commentaries often lost in translation to other mediums. Dickens himself performed public readings of his beloved story over a hundred and twenty times, including at his last public appearance before his death.

Though the co-founders of the Baker Street Readers, James Gelter and Tony Grobe, usually perform Sherlock Holmes stories, both have performed in and/or directed various stage productions of A Christmas Carol in the past and are delighted to be joined by actors Bruce Halloway and Shannon Ward as they present this beloved story once more. Grobe will narrate, Halloway will perform Ebenezer Scrooge, Gelter will perform the four ghosts, with Ward reading various characters.

Tickets for the show are $10, but a $2 discount will be given to anyone who donates a non-perishable food item. All food donations will in turn be given to the Foodworks pantry.
