BE the Change – No Kings 2.0

October 18, 2025 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Brattleboro Common

Harris Place, Brattleboro, VT 05301

BE the Change – No Kings 2.0

We stand beside all of our neighbors as we continue to care for each other and cooperate in support of healthy self-governance.  We value each other beyond politics by focusing on shared humanity, values, and interests.

This event is a massive call sponsored by National Indivisible, Indivisible Brattleboro, and Brattleboro Area Action.

Bring Bells: Let’s Make FREEDOM Ring!

WHEN: Saturday Oct 18, 1:00 – 2:30 Rain or shine.

WHERE: The Brattleboro Common, 14 Park Place (brief rally); march on Main Street sidewalks (both sides) from Brooks Library towards the Brattleboro Food Co-op.

WHAT: Gather on The Common. Two brief speakers. Songs and Chants. Then march down both sides of Main Street on sidewalks led by music and singing. Hold a half-hour solidarity stand-out with chants and songs back and forth across Main Street. Distribute information on actions people can take. We are coordinating with the Brattleboro Literary Festival.

WHO: State Treasurer Mike Pieciak and local graduate Django Grace, now at Columbia University, will speak. The Peoples Resistance Marching Band, The Good Trouble Street Choir and Bard Owl will accompany us with their high-spirited music.

An American Sign Language interpreter will facilitate the speeches on The Common.

WHY: America has no kings: We are a nation of people-power. America stands at a crossroads, yearning for rebirth. Today, our Lady Liberty is chained, our Blind Lady Justice silenced, and our people torn from their loved ones by forces of tyranny in broad daylight.

We the People do not stand idle—we stand together, united against oppression, to author a new chapter for our nation.

This BE the Change rally is a call to action for every neighbor, every voice, to join in rejecting authoritarianism, to focus on our shared priorities and build a stronger community. This is not solely a stand against tyranny and injustice—together we stand for a democracy that thrives on shared humanity, values and interests; on freedom and justice for all instead of dictatorship.

Let every voice shape a chorus that sings of a shared tomorrow. It won’t be easy or perfect, but together, we are building our promising future with our words and actions.

A core principle behind all Indivisible and Brattleboro Area Action events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.

  • Mark your calendars

“A little bit louder now, a little bit louder now….”

Today’s a good day to work on costumes, signs, telling friends, practicing drums… : )

  • Bells

The announcement above mentions that people should bring bells to ring.

Today would be a good day to spend a moment looking for some bells. : )

  • Oh Please! What Hypocrites!

    “No Kings”???
Yet when it comes to political candidate debates, most often,
only the major party candidates and Bernie Sanders
    are invited to participate.
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders is not a “real” independent
because he runs in the Democrat primary, promises to
vote with them, receives millions in funding from Democrats,
and then switches to independent for the November election
and participates in debates and candidate forums
that the REAL INDEPENDENTS ARE EXCLUDED FROM.
You have made United States Senator Bernie Sanders
    your KING
    by excluding other voices,
    by OPRESSING other valid candidates
who had the same petition requirements as he did.
HOW DARE YOU SAY “NO KINGS”?
How dare you hold up United States Senator Bernie Sanders
    as an example of goodness,
    when in fact,
he is an oppressor, along with all of the Democrats
who conspire to exclude all non-major party candidates,
    except the
    FAKE INDEPENDENT Bernie Sanders,
    from debates and forums?
    DEMOCRATS and REPUBLICANS alike
do not believe in free and fair elections in Vermont.
This is an oppressive state that
    excludes people
who are not the “right color” political affiliation.
How many debates did Becca Balint participate in
which excluded other candidates who were on the
election ballot and who had received just as many
    petition signatures as she did?
    QUEEN BECCA!
How many debates and political candidate forums
    did Peter Welch participate in
which excluded other candidates who had received
just as many petition signatures as he had?
    KING PETER!
Well, the Democrats need to admit
that they are part of the problem because
you have maintained an oppressive and inauthentic
    political environment in Vermont.
The NO KINGS Day events are sponsored primarily
by Democrats, the DEMONS OF EVIL OPPRESSION
DENYING FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS IN VERMONT.

PS: Mercury in Scorpio is Conjunct Mars in Scorpio
so I am venting my severe disgust with the evil
Democrats who are no better than the evil Republicans
who keep Vermont in the dark,
and refuse to let the light of other voices shine.
    YOU ARE THE OPPRESSORS!

    • Missing the point

Calling protestors of this administration hypocrites because of personal issues with state legislators for decisions by local media and locally elected officials. Really? That’s a quite a stretch. Exclusion from debates is a decision made by newspapers and TV stations.

People making signs and ringing bells are not the problem.

Hope to see lots of people out there today. More than last time. Looks like fun on a nice fall day. : )

  • Here is a point you all are missing!

There were a couple dozen candidates for
President of the United States of America on various State ballots in 2024,
but the majority were excluded from candidate debates and forums.
In the end, the non major party candidates received few votes.
Now, what if they had been included in debates and forums?
That would have increased their individual vote percentages
    due to media exposure.
They didn’t get hardly any media exposure because the
Democrats and Republicans knew in advance that the other
candidates would be excluded from debates and forums.
    They knew.
    They weren’t innocent.
They Republicans and Democrats willfully, seriously and
intentionally agreed to participate in political candidate
debates and forums that other candidates were excluded from.
    Now, back to the math.
If the other candidates had been included
and had a chance for the American public to hear their
    points of view,
resulting in them getting a few more votes than they did
    because they were excluded,
then, that might have affected the total outcome percentage
of the results of votes for Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
If including other candidates in debates and forums
might have resulted in a greater percentage of votes
    for the non-major party candidates,
then would their higher percentage of the total
have been enough to reduce Donald Trump’s votes
so that Joe Biden might have won?
If you fail to raise your voices in protest against
    political candidate debate exclusion
then you increase the total percentage of votes
for a major party candidate you don’t like.

  • Do the math!

debates and forums that other candidates were excluded from.

    Now, back to the math.
If the other candidates had been included
and had a chance for the American public to hear their
points of view and original ideas and perspectives
resulting in them getting a few more votes than they did
    because they were excluded,
then, that might have reduced the total outcome percentage
of the results of votes for Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

If including other candidates in debates and forums

  • Kamala Harris 48.3% of popular vote, Donald Trump 49.8% of popular vote

now, if all of the candidates who were on State ballots nationwide for President of the United States of America had been included, rather than excluded, from all political candidate debates and forums,
then would they have taken enough percentage of votes away from
    Donald Trump
to result in Kamala Harris winning the 2024 election?
    Democrats generally suck at math.
    Do the math.
Start including all candidates and get better results and
more ideas shared with the public.
