Brattleboro Literary Festival kicks off their annual season at 118 Elliot Thursday, October 11, at 7:30pm with a reprise of the play, “True As Steel” done in 1991 to commemorate the Vermont statehood Bicentennial. The play is about the life and times of Royall Tyler and his wife Mary Palmer Tyler. Tyler is one of the area’s most important Vermont writers of the Federalist era. Christina Gibbons and Don McLean co-wrote “True as Steel,” using entirely the words of Royall and Mary Palmer Tyler drawn from their writings. The play has been performed at Brooks Memorial Library and at Guilford’s Broad Brook Grange. This is a free event!
