James Madison, the “Father of the Constitution,” was keenly aware of the risk America faced with regard to the rich exploiting the poor politically as well as economically. Madison foresaw the possibility of oligarchy developing with startling prescience. This talk will match Madison’s insights to contemporary American oligarchy and draw from Madison’s prescription for dismantling oligarchy so as to identify a way back to democracy.
