David Rohn: As I See It

Mitchell • Giddings Fine Arts presents David Rohn: As I See It, an exhibition of watercolors and oil paintings, opening with Artist Reception Saturday, May 27, 5 – 7 pm. The show continues through July 9, with an Artist Talk Saturday, June 17, 5pm. Note: reg. gallery hours, Th-Sat 11-5, Sun 12-5

Rohn was the anchor and chairman of the Windham College art department. Upon its closing he taught in New Jersey and New York but maintained his studio in Putney, Vermont. He has shown in the United States and abroad, and has been a long time exhibitor at Mitchell • Giddings.

Whether in Rohn’s still-life watercolors or oils, a singular vision is suggested within the balance of broadly painted open passages of color and casually placed household objects, a shared compositional structure. The artist feels the harmony is already present; it’s his gift and insight which transform the informal, personal observation into a rich and collectively shared experience.
