October 26, 2024 to October 27, 2024 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

HatchSpace

22 High Street Brattleboro

No woodworking experience required.
Anyone looking for a way into making chairs or other staked furniture pieces can find one here: we’ll make a stout three-legged stool using a wide array of hand tools and techniques common in traditional chairmaking.

Learn. Students will first learn to make tapered legs from square stock using hand planes, and how to lay out rake and splay angles for the legs. Next we’ll use those angles to drill and ream holes in the seat. Finally, we’ll hammer the seat and legs together with glue and wedges. The class provides an excellent introduction to using common and specialized hand tools, including how to sharpen a variety of blades.

Make. Students will make a three-legged stool from pine and oak using hand tools.

Saturday-Sunday, October 26-27 |  10am-4:30pm  |  Class will break for a 1/2 hour lunch each day.

Cost: $297.50 members; $350 non-members (plus $20 materials fee)
What to Bring: Bring a bag lunch, or you may visit nearby downtown Brattleboro to purchase lunch.
