Is Variety the Spice of Life? – An Online Toastmasters Meeting

March 26, 2020 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

For the first time, BrattleMasters, the local Toastmasters club, will have an online only meeting. Instead of meeting downtown in the Brooks House, members and the public may join our online Zoom meeting by using this link: https://zoom.us/j/142296376. The meeting ID is 142 296 376. Or by phone, use one tap mobile +16465588656,,142296376# US (New York) or +16699006833,,142296376# US (San Jose).

It lasts about 90 minutes, including a break. Scheduled speakers are Eddie Sause of Shelburne Falls, Mass. and Scott Green of Vero Beach, Fla. Green will be giving an icebreaker speech, usually a member’s first speech when they introduce themselves to the group. However, a former Granite Stater, Green is familiar to many BrattleMasters because he previously served in a Toastmasters leadership capacity.

Each speaker will have an assigned evaluator who will provide both an oral evaluation during the meeting, and a written evaluation which will be sent electronically to the speaker. The online meeting will include the important roles of “ah” counter, grammarian, timer and general evaluator. Included in the last section of the meeting will be the off-the-cuff exercise known as Table Topics.

“Is Variety the Spice of Life?” is the theme chosen by Carolyn Handy of Putney who will emcee this online meeting. To join in, sign in at about 5:45 p.m. to download Zoom, if necessary, and make sure your camera and speakers are working properly. Many Toastmaster programs are available for the vision-impaired.

The local Toastmasters club meets twice monthly on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Until further notice, the club will meet online only.
