Reading with Poet and Author GennaRose Nethercott

May 14, 2019 6:00 pm

Mitchell • Giddings Fine Arts is pleased to host the homecoming reading of GennaRose Nethercott’s Lumberjack’s Dove, Tuesday, May 14, 8 pm.
In her debut narrative poem The Lumberjack’s Dove, 2017 National Poetry Series Winner GennaRose Nethercott brings to bear an enchanting fabulist sensibility in her haunting story of a woodsman who cuts his hand off with an axe – only to watch it shapeshift into a dove.

The Lumberjack’s Dove (Ecco / Harper Collins) was selected by Louise Gluck as a winner of the National Poetry Series for 2017. She is also the lyricist behind the narrative song collection Modern Ballads, and is a Mass Cultural Council Artist Fellow. Her work has appeared widely in journals and anthologies including BOMB, The Massachusetts Review, The Offing, and PANK. A born Vermonter, she tours nationally and internationally composing poems – to – order for strangers on a 1952 Hermes Rocket typewriter.

This event is free and open to the public. Mitchell • Giddings Fine Arts is committed to presenting innovative, contemporary works that stimulate and challenge both the seasoned collector and aesthetic explorer, as well as hosting and promoting events aimed to connect the community with its local artists. Gallery hours: Wed. – Mon., 11 – 5
