Brattleboro is a great destination for a summer weekend.

The Southern Vermont Dance Festival will return in July from July 19th – July 22nd. Join us here at SVDF as we embark on our 2018 festival, our 6th annual! We are honoring diversity for the second season in a row, with a special focus on how art makes change. Propose your courses by January 31st! Submit your Visual Art Exhibits by Febuary 1st! Submit your Choreography by February 5th! We will show traditional work, innovative work, and work and courses that celebrate diversity and social change! This year’s festival theme is diversity and social change; we will have classes, choreography and visual art that reflect this theme and explore political, social, physical and cultural diversities.

This small New England town is transformed into a festival of dance performances, workshops, and lectures. Local Brattleboro businesses host many performances throughout the festival and the streets become alive with movement. Workshops and lectures are hosted by dance studios, conference halls, and venues throughout the town. Festival attendees have their choice of several performances to attend each evening.

There are many educational opportunities offered each year to the professional dancer, dance student, and dance enthusiast. Additionally, there is a strong commitment to promote local business and advance the thriving performing arts community in Southern Vermont. This festival weekend is filled with incredible musical events, downtown performances, and workshops. It is accessible to everyone who is interested in participating in a weekend of dance and movement.

The festival offers volunteer opportunities to those who are interested and who may not be able to afford the cost of the full weekend pass, and internships to those looking to learn more about working in the exciting non profit field, or the fields of dance and art curation. It promotes and creates awareness of performing arts in Southern Vermont and across New England, in addition to offering a summer training opportunity at all levels of movement and interest.

The Southern Vermont Dance Festival brings together dance, performing arts, visual arts, and business to act as a long term economic driver for the community. Join us this summer at SVDF, where movement meets community!
