38 Church Drive, Guilford, VT

On Saturday, Feb. 23, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Guilford Community Church, Friends of Music at Guilford presents flutist Alison Hale and pianist Christopher Lewis in a program of romantic chamber music favorites originally scored for other instruments. The four featured works are Brahms’ Sonata in F minor for clarinet, Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata for Cello, Schumann’s three Romances for Oboe, and Fauré’s Sonata in A Major for violin. These transcriptions for flute were written by two international superstars, James Galway and Jean-Pierre Rampal, as well as two touring American flutists, Stephanie Jutt and Robert Stallman, known for their arranging skills. This “Stolen Jewels” performance is supported in part by a grant from the Powell Flutes company of Boston. The $15 admission includes a teatime reception of warming homemade soups, hearty breads, appetizers, and desserts. The church is handicap accessible.
