Six gifted taletellers will be showcased at the first ever Guilford Community Church “Art of Storytelling” event on Sunday afternoon, May 4 at 2 p.m. This is a ‘by donation only’ fundraiser with no reservations required.
Featured chroniclers will include Peter Amidon, Blessed Ngoma and his daughter, Willow, Dot MacDonald, Lindy Sayward and Mike Mayer. According to organizers, their anecdotes are certain to be as varied as their ages and life experiences.
Peter Amidon is sharing an Arthurian legend about hunters tracking a “hart” (a male deer), a risky riddle, a loathly lady, a noble knight and a magical marriage. Blessed and Willow Ngoma will share the engaging stories about how they got their names. Dot MacDonald will talk about a few escapades and close calls in Bolivia. Lindy Sayward will share the adventure of following inner nudges and synchronicities throughout her life. Mike Mayer will recount how a violent carjacking gives life to hope and purpose in troubled times.
Donations will gratefully be accepted in any amount at the door. Contributions will help the community efforts of the church in Guilford, Brattleboro and beyond. Following the event the audience are encouraged to join the performers for light refreshments afterwards, downstairs in Zeller Hall.
The Guilford Community Church is located at 38 Church Dr. in Guilford VT and is handicapped accessible with free parking. For information, contact organizer Rachel Johnson at (319) 505-7675.
