Borter's Class

October 18, 2018 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

Borter’s Jewelry Studio

22 High St., Suite 202, Brattleboro, Vt. 05301

In this four-day course for students with some previous metalsmithing experience, we will explore the process of designing a small body of original work. Students will experiment with various methods of design, including sketching and model making to generate a thorough plan of construction and develop a solid practice of critical thinking with consideration of materials, tools, technique, and basic metalsmithing principles.
Unlike other classes, the object will not be to complete a piece of jewelry designed by the instructors. Instead, you will leave with a step-by-step plan to execute your jewelry design in your own time.
Don’t have a place to make your own jewelry? We will offer advice for equipping your first jeweler’s bench and sourcing tools and materials. Or ask about the possibility of renting bench time at Borter’s Jewelry Studio to implement your design.
$400 includes all materials.
