The annual Women’s Film Festival in Brattleboro, VT is the longest running women’s film festival in New England. Now in its 28th year, it is a celebration of movies from around the world and a platform for women to tell their own stories. It is also a major fundraiser for the work of the Women’s Freedom Center, a non-profit domestic and sexual violence organization in Southeastern Vermont.

Over the course of two weeks, beginning with the opening night gala of champagne, hors-d’oeuvres, and film, more than 30 documentaries, feature films, animated films and shorts will be screened. There is truly something for everyone with films about friendship, war, lesbian/queer lives, food, motherhood, fashion, activism, and romance.

The festival brings films to Southern Vermont that can often only be seen if you’re lucky enough to be able to travel to film festivals like Tribeca and Sundance. Many of the films which have been included in the Women’s Film Festival over the years have gone on to receive acclaim and award nominations.

The 28th annual Women’s Film Festival opens Friday, March 22nd and runs through Saturday, March 30th at the Hooker-Dunham Theater in Brattleboro. For more information on this year’s films, screening times and ticket prices, go to www.womensfilmfestival.org
