No work will be conducted on the project from Noon on Friday, May 22, 2026 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Vermont Route 9: (Night Work)
Single-lane closures are scheduled to be in place on Vermont Route 9 beginning at the Edmund Heights intersection in West Brattleboro and progressing east to the Interstate 91 Exit 2 interchange. Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning, flaggers will direct alternating traffic patterns through the work zones. No street-side parking will be available in these areas of VT 9 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Friday morning. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces.
The top floor of the Brooks Memorial Library will be closed to the public on Monday, May 18 (all day) and Tuesday, May 19, 2026, until 5 p.m. due to construction. The children and teen spaces, restrooms, and community room will be inaccessible during this period.
Youth and teen materials on reserve will be available at the ground floor circulation desk, along with a small browsing collection for checkout.
The Trustees of public funds will meet on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 4:30pm in the Hanna Cosman Meeting Room (230 Main Street, Room 211).
The Charter Revision Commission will meet on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 6:00pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room (230 Main Street, Room 212).

Brattleboro’s Charter Revision Commission will meet on Thursday, May 14, 2026. The meeting will take place at 6pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center, 230 Main Street, Brattleboro and via Zoom.
The commission will discuss the results of the March 3, 2026 ballot items, Brattleboro’s form of annual town meeting, and set its work plan for the months ahead. The agenda, including the Zoom link, can be found at https://brattleboro.gov/charter-commission.
The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Brattleboro Municipal Center (230 Main Street, Room 212) and over Zoom. Prior to the regular meeting at 5:30pm, the Board will convene and is expected to move directly into executive session to discuss labor relations agreements with employees and real estate. The attached agenda contains information on how to access the meeting remotely, including the required “passcode.” Closed captioning will be available for deaf and hard-of-hearing community members. The backup materials for this meeting will be available on the town website by the end of the day

The Brattleboro Department of Public Works announces that a portion of Flat Street will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The closure will be in effect from the intersection of Flat Street and Main Street to the entrance of the Latchis parking lot. This closure is necessary to allow a private contractor to safely conduct roof work at 32 Main Street.

Shoulder closures are anticipated Monday and Tuesday of next week in the northern part of the project as a part of the traffic control coordination effort with Green Mountain Power.

The work zone will shift from northbound to southbound travel lanes and continue to progress north over the course of the week. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces. Expect delays in this area.

The Town of Brattleboro is pleased to announce the appointment of Brooks Memorial Library’s next Director, Julie Perrin. Perrin, who has spent the past nine years leading the Jaffrey Public Library in Jaffrey, NH, brings extensive experience in library program development, grant writing, and operations management. She will begin on May 11, 2026.
“We’re excited to have someone with Julie’s clear passion and original thought to pick up the thread and help write the next chapter at Brooks Memorial Library,” said Brattleboro Town Manager John Potter. “She’s an experienced leader with a proven track record that includes efficient management, capital fundraising, and facility project management, which is especially important as Brooks undergoes renovations over the next year.”
Brattleboro, VT – The Department of Public Works will be conducting road repairs from a previous culvert installation on Guilford Street Extension on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
As a result, Guilford Street Extension will be fully closed to all traffic between house numbers #773 and #821 from 8:30 a.m. until no later than 1 p.m. The road may reopen earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule.
Utilities Division crews will start Spring Flushing of the Town water mains on Friday, April 17 and continue through Friday, May 1. Occasional daytime flushing will continue through May 8.
Customers are asked to check the flushing schedule closely as flushing may cause water discoloration, low water pressure and in some areas, and intervals of no water. Users who experience a short period of discolored water or air in the water lines after flushing is complete should run the cold water for a few minutes to clear the lines.
