DESCRIPTION:Co-hosted by The Root Social Justice Center and HatchSpace\, our BIPOC Maker Workshops are an opportunity for anyone who self-identifies as Black\, Indigenous\, or a Person of Color to come find and create community around woodworking. All workshops are free\, and designed for beginners - no woodworking experience is necessary!\r \n &gt\;&gt\; 2 Sessions: Mondays\, April 6 and April 13\, from 5:30 to 8:00pm \r \n Featured Activity: Edge Grain Cutting BoardsThis 2-part workshop is for anyone wanting to get into woodworking but didn't know where to start. On the first night\, you’ll learn foundational milling techniques - the skills used in almost every woodworking project - while making your own edge-grain cutting board from multiple hardwoods. You’ll get hands-on experience with essential machines like the miter saw\, jointer\, planer\, and table saw\, and learn how to do a glue-up to assemble your board. The second night is devoted to shaping\, sanding and finishing your board. By the end\, you’ll have not only a beautiful\, functional cutting board but also the confidence to take on more woodworking projects.\r \n Cost: Free and open to the BIPOC community. Registration is required to reserve your seat\, but drop-ins may be accepted if space is available.
