SUMMARY:Blackout: a One-Woman Show
DESCRIPTION:All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church will present the one-woman show BLACKOUT: How I Became White in America on Saturday\, April 25 at 2 pm.  This original show is written and performed by Ethelyn Friend\, actor\, teacher and writer. Her performance reflects one white woman’s process of facing her direct links to slavery\, a somatic\, musical\, and theatrical exploration of denial\, guilt and response.  Friend notes this performance directly addresses “white America.”  The 90- minute show is followed by an optional community conversation.\r \n \r \n Proceeds from the Brattleboro performance will go to The Root Social Justice Center\, a Vermont-based\, Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color (BIPOC) led racial justice organization centering blackness. \r \n \r \n \r \n Tickets are available at www.ascvt.org/blackout/ with a suggested donation of $20.  Reservations are requested\, but tickets will also be available at the door.  All Souls UU Church is located at 29 South Street\, West Brattleboro.\r \n \r \n \r \n
